On A Good Day...

My close mate got married today with a very light-hearted lunch wedding ceremony. Also managed to kick back and chillout for a while at the Meritus Mandarin Hotel Observatory Lounge and see the sunset with SOMEONE that matters. A good day so far :)

Fuck the F1 and it's festivities!

Music Discovery Project

Back in the late 90s when I was doing gigs at the defunct underground club called Nox (Mohammad Sultan Road), I was interviewed by an online portal. I was asked what I think of classical music. I replied that Trance is today's closest ancestor to classical music and that real Trance lovers will appreciate the identical elements in both genres. The climatic build-ups, the progression of various elements being introduced, the breakdown, the crescendo and etc. No other form of modern electronic music comes close to that. Not House music, not Tehno, not Tech House, not Minimal, and most certainly not the flashy Nu Rave / Indie Disco either.

Classical music has been around for the longest time since and Trance (in it's many forms) since it's arrival in the mid-90s has become perhaps one of the most sustaining and lucrative music genres in the electronica world. Not surprising. Of course there's good Trance and bad Trance. Nonetheless, it's around for well over more than a decade and is still gaining momentum with each year, whilst so many other forms of electronic music have come and gone.

Recently, one of my greatest inspiration merge the two forms into an impressive concert. Truly stunning if you understood the complexity and discipline of classical music and how everything is done "LIVE" as compared to the so-called concerts of Armin and Tiesto where everything is mimed with a full-playback.

Miss Credit Card Fraud goes BOOMZ!

Ris Low first drew criticism for her superb command of Singlish and her lack of intellect. Now she's guilty of credit card fraud. Seriously, thanks to her... the stereotyping of most models being airheards is somewhat true. And thanks to her... we have some thing to laugh at. She either bought shitloads of leopard prints or enrolled herself in English lessons with the credit cards. No matter what, she's got fame... afterall, HOW MANY OF YOU are in Wikipedia? Hahahahaha!!!

Stupid bimbo.

Speaking of bimbo... I HATE CHINA PEOPLE. Period.

Today at work, I accidentally elbowed a China woman. Her reaction was damn dramatic... shouting at the top of her lungs as if I've broken her face or something. I said "sorry" but she want on and on. Sorry, bitch... I'm McBitchy... so I retorted in perfect English...

"Fuck off! Stop being such a drama queen, you China piece of crap!"

And quite honestly? I hope the economy worsen so that these China invaders will not be able to find jobs as well... and do everyone else a HUGE favour by fucking back to the shithole they came from.

Stupid local media!

Wake up call to all the local media reporters / correspondents... there will always be an alternative opinion to whatever you may report. Deal with it and stop whining to the fucking world like as if you've been robbed. There's always TWO sides to a coin. Even paper money have TWO faces. When there's black, there's white and etc. And for every tyrant, there's always an opposing faction. So quit stirring up shit and grow up!!!!

I was merely HUMOURING you by taking a dig at your insignificant article! Don't think it was ALL-SO-ESSENTIAL. The obituaries ranked highly in importance. Just because you've got a degree of some sort in journalism, doesn't make you an authority figure in ANY field. I'm bitchy but there will always be someone else bitchier than I am.

I should stop fanning your ego by saying I'm going to stop now and I'm off to take a shit.

Technical Rider

Every time I do a gig overseas, I'm always asked for my technical rider. I've always kept it simple... asking only for the specific DJ gear, and never more. But I've seen some "technical" requirements for some internationals which will ask for more beyond the technical stuff. Tiesto asked for "boy of legal age" when he toured Indonesia. Ooops, my bad, industry secret.

Anyway, this is the very basic that I'd normally ask for...

Pioneer CDJ1000 MK3 (with updated firmware)

Pioneer DJM-800 or any equivalent digital mixer

Serato SL3

And to be honest, I've been tempted many times to list the following "out-of-the-norm" items into the rider... for the sake of indulgence.

A cooler box packed with Corona's

A bottle of Malibu rum

A dozen cans of Coke Zero

Cheesy Fries

And if P@t is DJing alongside with me, a can each of

Cashew Nuts

Caramel Walnuts

And if there's an afterhours gathering of sorts after the gig...

A bottle of Grey Goose

Half dozen of Pokka Green Tea

Ohh... and in case of hunger pangs...

A box of assorted donuts

Well, one can fantasize, can't I?

Party like a rockstar and f**k like pornstars!

Singapore has porn stars?

Having the crappiest week of my life thus far. Don't wish to talk about it or dwindle about it. It's long weekend and I intend to go back to my bed to sleep the Sunday away.

Reading today's newspapers... the front headlines. This country never fails to amuse me sometimes. Beside producing broken English-speaking Miss Universe contestants, who would have figured that in this overly-sanitized island; we're capable of generating international porn stars? Don't get me wrong, I'm not a fan of porn so I don't really know much but apparently, this one got iced by her (pastor) boyfriend. NEWS.

Felicia Tang

I usually don't like to make a mockery out of death... but... PASTOR? PORN? Tortured. Murdered. What the f**k? Exorcism gone wrong? From the news article, one can summarize that porn / sex make MOST people happy while religion (of all kinds), is just downright WRONG. Wars and conflicts are fought for the sake of religion. Religion generates extremists who in turn, kill others. So what the fuck is religion good for, besides creating more hypocrites? Nothing. Sex on the other hand, just makes us love ourselves more.

Some of you will question and judge the victim's moral character. You're just fucking ignorant. The issue is the CRIME and the character of the "preacher" boyfriend (the supposed man of God). Nonetheless, the media is using the "porn star" angle to sensationalize the news. She was only a NUDE model. A typical case of fraudulent journalism, which isn't the least surprising. Never believe EVERYTHING you read. Media hype is nothing but lies.

Speaking of which, the king of fraud DJing... New Order's Peter Hook is back. The promoter that booked him ought to be castrated for being an "ignoranus" that's just cashing in on BIG names without any thought for QUALITY. So what Underworld's performing? Ain't the same without Darren Emerson. Anyways, been there, done it. Caught them (the original line-up) in Glastonbury. And that's good enough to last me a lifetime.

Which leads me to the COCK OF THE YEAR... someone who for some strange unmentionable reasons, always has something to say about the venues we use to host our brand nights (Dazed Out + Progressions). It's always complains about service. If not, it's the drink prices. Otherwise, it's the location of the chosen venue. There's just no pleasing this wanker.

"Can you hold you events elsewhere?" he asked.

Can. In your house? At your neighbourhood coffee shop? Or better still. Since you've always got something to say and complain about the venues, why not you put your money where your mouth is and open your own club. Then we talk. If not, PLEASE don't proclaim that you like our music and that you support us. WE DON'T NEED PEOPLE LIKE YOU!

Cock!

OK, it's Sunday and I'm going back to bed to enjoy life's greatest luxury... SLEEP!

My listening gems for the week...

Black Metal

Alternative Rock

Adult Contemporary Rock

********************

I don't really like taking a piss at other "DJs" unless there's a necessity. I was prompted to add a particular wanker DJ as a friend on Facebook...

The profile reads as such... "been named as one of the A-List DJs around." Questionable. Listed by the authority figure called SELF? Also, profile claims "trying to make his name in Asia and also Europe market". Word of advice when written profile, it's like a job resume. "TRYING" means still "YET TO ACHIEVE". And it's not really a good word to use. Dude... TRY HARDER!!!

No matter how one tries to package it...

Honestly? My mom can do harmonic mixing with her eyes closed, while baking a chiffon cake.

Excuse for being bitchy. I'm on medication. Sue my gastric!!!

Tired

I'm tired.

Apparently, many things in my life is not as "positive" as I would like them to be. And I hate having to answer for my every action and decision I make; and then get all involved parties all wound up about it. I'm really tired.

YUKUN | PROGRESSIONS | ALTER EGO

Having withdrawals yet?

When P@t dropped "White Sands" last Saturday... it was the best audience response I've seen locally. We've always been huge fans of Sunlounger (aka DJ Shah), and we've plugged music from his "Magic Island" label quite faithfully. You know what would be amazing? Us at a beach rave. Sunset. Dropping this tune. Hands reaching up. And P@t crying with joy. :)

Pinnacle moment.

As for "Zocalo", it was also the best reception ever! People cheering and humming to it. Never before in all the times I've played it. OK, granted that maybe the alcohol helped... but still!

Won't it be nice if we could recreate the above video? :p

I hope Armin wins this year's DJ poll again.

Mwahahaha... *click click*

Some people are classic clowns!

If you think people requesting songs via phone text messages is downright rude (well, all DJs think it is), here comes a classic case that tops it all by asking for the electro bootleg mix of Red Hot Chili Peppers' "By The Way"... AT A TRANCE GIG!!!!!

DUH!!!!

I need rest!!!

Doctor's order. Sleep. Rest.

My handphone's on SILENT mode. I won't be picking any calls or replying any of your questions. For general inquiries, try GOOGLE first. Don't make yourself a laughing stock by asking me for answers that are readily available on the web. i.e. who's this DJ and that producer sort-of-crap questions.

As for tomorrow's event, guestlist is closed. If you still have friends to want to go, they can't be as cheapskate as not to be able to afford paying that "FIRST DRINK" charge at the door! Don't take us for granted. We can't be obliging to every single request at every single event. When we give a dateline, there's a reason for it. We can't hold out till the last second for people to make up their minds. Too bad, understand?

Don't expect any email replies either. I'm really going to sleep till Saturday late evening. I feel like shit now, so if you've any decency or some kind of grey matter... please DO NOT DISTURB!!!

My annual ritual

I get it every year around this time... without fail. It's been consecutively for FOUR years in a roll. And it's not that I don't watch what I eat. I don't touch any red meat or any uncooked food. I don't eat cold leftovers. I don't really like junkfood either. And yet I get it each year... in the most severe scenerio possible.

Vomiting nothing but your bile juices is downright unbearable. And trying to hydrate one's self well both ends are expelling liquids is damn frustrating. The doctor says I have a very weak stomach, prone to bacterial and viral infection. Great! I won't eat now, then. Save me all the pain and suffering.

I'm heading back to bed. My cellphone's off so stop bugging about the fucking guestlist for tomorrow. The list is closed. And stop telling me how this / that club should lower their drink prices in lieu of market condition and blah blah blah. So clever, put your money where your fat mouth is and open your own club!!!

SNOOZERS = LOSERS
