Whoever just sent me a bunch of his Trance demo mixed CDs obviously does not read my blogsite. If he did, he would not have left a note saying... "what to do think of my mixing?"
Just to cure your curiosity?
I don't mean to sound harsh or cruel but I'd rather pop pills and die than listen to such fly-by-night / mediocre effort. SERIOUSLY! I'm not impressed easily with "huge and obvious tunes". So there!
Eric Tadla, the other half of EnMass and 8 years production partner with Randy Boyer passed away 26th July 2008. Together, they've composed over 60 songs. Everyone in the loop is in shock to lose someone with such a huge heart. The music he has made will continue to live on.

Today was a somewhat lazy (and hot) Saturday afternoon, which started out as a ground recce of Cafe Del Mar @ Sentosa with my other partner-in-crime...
What was supposed to be a survey for the upcoming Progressions : Sundown Party, led us to several buckets of beer, an undrinkable vodka Redbull (bad thing to go with the heat), a really cool Lychee mojito...
None the less... here's to a promising new experience and a new historical chapter to the Progressions brand. Are you ready for a Saturday afternoon of cool Balearic trance and blissed-out progressive tunes by the beach? Mark your calendars... 16 August (2pm - 7pm). Oh, bring your shades and sunblock. Then again, it's a rain or shine event... so come what may! Looking forward to it :)
The last post seems to have drawn a lot of reaction from many of you. As I anticipated, most of you can relate to bad bosses and idiotic superiors. We've all been there, done that (more than once in most cases).
A reader emailed saying that his retarded boss runs the company on the policy of "do it my way because it's the only and right way", solely because he's also the OWNER of the company. He talks to the staff as if he is the school principal and they were his students. He expects them to put in extra hours without any incentive whatsoever. Quite honestly, Donald Trump would have fired this asshole within a blink of an eye.
If you think that's bad... you haven't dealt with bosses that say... "my friends say" so it shall be.
Makes you wonder doesn't it? What kind of world do we live in when a complete idiot can be a CEO of a company? Or a narrow-minded bastard can be your immediate supervisor. Unfortunately for us, that's the way things are. It's been like such for centuries!
The fucking idiots, really rule the earth! Sad but true. I once had a marketing manager proposing an idea that's as stale as the bread that Jesus had during his Last Supper. When I questioned it, the person started rattling on about the usual bullocks of academic achievements pertaining to the post. Common COW sense is not obtained in books, dimwits!
But seriously, if this is you...
... and you feel that work is decaying your soul... and that life is nothing but a pointless routine of GO TO WORK / GO HOME... I suggest you quit before you end up depressed or worse. Just stop bitching and not doing a damn thing about it. Take all that negative energy and channel it into the hunt for Mas Selamat (this is going to be an ongoing recurring joke). Who knows, you just might beat me to the prize bounty!
A lot of people are constantly complaining about their jobs and basically having a shitty life being a slave to something that is perhaps taking away too much of their personal time. To all of you, stop lying to yourselves...
Other doors will never be found if you just sit there and bitch about your plight. Have the testicular fortitude to get the word out. If you really have the demand in the job market, move on and say to your current slave-masters... "fuck you all, I'm going to a better place where I can pee without you breathing down my neck!"
Fact is, most employers are self-appointed "leaders" and chances are that you'll end up right back where you started... tasting the end of the whip and dragging a donkey cart. When you change horses, make sure it's not the same breed.
Based on my many past jobs, I've concluded that most small enterprises do not manage their staff well and constantly fail to return those with actual talents. It's a known fact. And the fault actually lies with the employer who either lacks leadership qualities or have little qualification in the area of management (or both). Just because you have the finance to set up a company, doesn't necessary make you DIRECTOR calibre. Many of such companies fail to recognize the importance of good employee understanding and devoting care for the clockwork of the business.
If you flip the job classifieds in the papers, you'll find that it's full of false advertisments and lies. A majority of them aren't truthful with regards to job prospects and have deliberately failed to elaborate how the employee's future may development should he/she join the organization. Don't blame the staff for job-hopping once they discover the job lacks career advancement.
Most employers can't be bothered with giving a balanced lifestyle for the employees and yet they expect you to be DEDICATED (i.e. slave) to the company. Newsflash, if the staff have nothing to work for (i.e. personal life), you can't expect the best of commitment and performance from them. Sometimes, not everything is about MONEY. They need a life too!
Other points most bosses fail to realize? Employees aren't children. They're WORKING adults. Treat them like kids and most of them will oblige in return. Also, age equates to a wealth of working experience, commitment and attitude maturity. A young adult with an impressive stack of academic qualifications are usually lacking in emotional intelligence. Trustworthiness comes with age.
Most companies fail to hire the proper HR personels to conduct proper interviews. If an interview is nothing more than going through your CV in verbal form, it basically means that the company doesn't possess the ability (or have any interest) to discover true capacity of potential employees.
Asking redundant questions like "Why did you leave your last job" is simply a waste of time. The answer's obvious and it only shows how insignificant the employer really is. It's either retrenchment, termination or unhappiness. Whatever it is, the candidate is already showing his commitment by putting in the effort in presenting himself to you, the potential new employer. How often do you get asked, "what to you hope to achieve in this life with this job" and such? Seriously, how many employers actually care to grow the business alongside with the employees?
The current labour market is lack of talent. It's flooded with half-baked foreign workers willing to work for a cheap buck. The willingness to hired such "imported talent" shows the shortage of PROPER employers as they've failed to win the hearts of PROPER employees... especially those that would have done jobs with upmost dedication.
Businesses fail to see their own full potential profitability because they either fail to attract, hire or retain the RIGHT staff. You may be the boss but you may not be RIGHT all the time. You may think otherwise... but chances are that you'll eventually end up regretting your ignorance and arrogance.
I'm sad to leave my current employment mid-August as there's a superb chemistry amongst the team and immediate supervisors (ok, one of which is still a fucking irritant). The perks of the job have been unbelievable besides the long hours. TWO days of work followed by an OFF DAY... freebies from the boss as well as suppliers...
The reason I've resigned from many of my past jobs is because I don't believe in regimentation or having to work against my principles. If you're stupid, you're stupid. I don't care much to butter anyone. Much as they wish for me to stay on, I've found something else more financially lucrative which fits right into my "work smart, not work hard" beliefs. Most importantly, I'll be making more money than what I'm paid now and YET have more free time for myself.
p/s I'm becoming a bounty hunter. The one-million-dollar price tag on Mas Selamat is way too attractive to ignore. :p
Screw all the hype around Dark Knight, Hellboy 2, The Mummy sequel and all other yadda-yadda blockbusters. It's FREAKING X-Files. Can't fuck around with a cult status brand. Period. I can't wait. 'Nuff said!
In view of the rapid rising cost of living in Singapore, the authorities have derived at a scheme to help ease the tide. After months of his "supposed" escape, Mas Selamat now has a prize on his head...
So for those in dire need for money, why not consider changing your vocation into that of a bounty hunter? Perhaps they can incorporate this wild goose chase into the new season of...
The Amazing Race : The Aimless Hunt For A Terror-Suspect
Elsewhere, people wait with extremely bewilderment as Anwar prepares his legally-binding statement to explain how his semen got unto another man's underwear...
"... and it goes a little something like this."
Speaking of cock... I'm planning to post my no-hold-barred take on bad employers and poor management strategies... based on my past employment experiences. Names will be with-held because I can't be bothered to fight any defamation law suits, but for those in the know, it'll be pretty OBVIOUS who I'm referring to. I think we all can agree on one thing - bosses are like baby diapers... they're on your ass all the time and they're full of SHIT!

The weekend so far? Nursing a very bad backache (as if any of them were GOOD to begin with), popping pain-killers, eating cheesy fries (which I made), drinking soda-pop and savouring the boxset of Season One of Veronica Mars...
Still waiting to get my paws on promo copies of Battlestar Galactica (Season 3), Jericho,Surface and the Anime-inspired Batman : Gotham Knight. Won't be enjoying such "perks" after I quit mid-August. Win some, lose some. *ouch* my back is hurting again.
Many thanks to one and all for the well wishes on my Facebook wall, via SMS and email. It's nice to know that some of you miss me sorely. Hahaha! Come to Cafe Del Mar on the 16 August... (cheap plug!)
In the meantime, those thinking of heading for this year's SingFest...
... tickets are now on sale at all Gramophone outlets as well. Pretty cool line-up this year with Travis, Panic At The Disco, Jason Mraz, Alicia Keys... but seriously, who the fuck went to book Rick Astley for the line-up? It's kinda embarrassing, ain't it? The point being?
Would he be a draw at all? Doubt it. He'll probably end up as the comic relief for the entire festival. Ladies and gentlemen, for your toilet break enjoyment, LICK ARSE-LY! Someone should have thought of David Cook instead of "Mr. Potato Head from the 80's"!

A further extension of my previous post regarding those PRC "foreign talents" in Singapore... they seriously are fucking stupid. When you're in a shop and the lights are suddenly dimmed and the door shutters are down... and after 30 minutes to total silence, you MIRACULOUSLY realize that you're the only "customer" left! Please don't bloody ask, "Are you closed?"
For fuck's sake...
You think you EMPEROR or something? You think we closed the shop just for your own private leisure browsing? We Singaporeans got a slang for that. WAIT LONG LONG! And don't be an oxy-moron by asking why the China-import CDs are so cheap. Because you fuckers are cheapskates, that's fucking why! To end it all with a slap in your own face, don't fucking say, "I don't like China products, they are inferior."
You're damn right on that. INFERIOR! And it's pretty obvious that includes almost everything else that comes from there, doesn't it? Perhaps they should consider stop eating so much pork and other "exotic" cuisines. It's certainly not helping them in the cerebral department!
No offense but I'm merely quoted JUST ONE of many such incidents pertaining to these "people".
The other thing that grinds my gears... people who don't fucking have any basic personal grooming! Look, it's seriously hard to carry on a proper conversion when you've got a fucking LONG and THICK nasal hair sticking out of your freaking nose! Excuse me for staring. I was waiting for a bloody spider to crawl out!
For heaven's sake, get yourself a pair of tweezers or something! Can't you hear it calling out to you?
"Pull me! Pull me! Purrrlleeassse!"
If you can't afford one, I'll lend you my cigarette lighter!
Just to make it clear... I'm Chinese so what I'm about to say is not in anyway RACIST...
To all the job-grabbing PRC Chinese in Singapore...
Why? For being YOURSELVES. i.e. bad dress sense, crude, loud talking, inconsiderate, phlegm-spitting and rude. You don't come into any retail shops here and act like it's your mother-fucking place. And when confronted, you use your pathetic broken-English to rebuttal. I told you I'll kick your ass and I meant it. After all, I'm already resigning so I don't fucking care if you ever make a complain about me to my company. Next time you run around, be careful... or you might find my feet sticking out and waiting to trip you again. Hopefully next time round, you break your nose!
To all the dark-skinned Asian-origin people that emulate the African-American lingo, fashion sense, culture and embrace the music that comes along with it (i.e. R&B and Hip Hop); just to make themselves "cooler".
Black folks got a word for that.
IRRITATING.
DEY?!! What's up calling each other DAWG and shit?
And as for the horde of foreign talents in the country that's taking over every single job imaginable. Learn some proper English mother fuckers!
I DO NOT UNDERSTAND THE WORDS COMING OUT OF YOUR MOUTHS!
And as for the overhyped upcoming F1 in Singapore... as for as I'm concerned, that's another dumb-ass excuse of a SPORT. I just don't get it. What's a grown man, going over 500mph... IN A CIRCLES? Round and round, what's up with that? You watch the first lap, go take a shit break followed by a buffer dinner, come back for the last lap... you ain't going to miss a fucking thing.
IT'S A FUCKING LOOP!
Here we are suffering from the hike in petrol prices and there they are driving around in circles. It's really kind of stupid ain't it? But it's not as half stupid as the people that are forking out money to watch the unneccessary "burning of precious fuel".If you used that money to buy an airplane ticket, at least you'll end up somewhere else. But the F1 races? At the end of it all, you're still right back where you started! And the fucking starting line.
For those that don't get it... The starting line is also the finishing line. DUH!
Why does this Chinese (me) dig brutal Metal bands? Because those "people" that were supposedly to be into Rock are swearing by fucking retarded R&B crap and are behaving like they're Afro-Americans. I'm like the poetic balance of things. Nonetheless, I personally think so-called commercial Rock bands like One Republic, Click Five, Daughtry and even Def Leppard are all faggots compared to conceptual Metal acts like Moonspell, Opeth and Iced Earth. So why do I like such noisy and "evil-sounding" music? For the simple fact that these bands make music without thinking of success or monetary gains. They make it for themselves and for those in the community. Metal has always been the underdog of modern music and it still doesn't give a fuck about CHARTS or AWARDS.
UP YOUR IRONS!
Oh... and you know what else is goddamn spastic?
That's so-called "Trance" that's made under 5 minutes from a factory line of predictable paint-by-numbers programming and an unhealthy serving of blue cheese. Sorry if you like it but the music's just as downright dumb as those disposable Euro-dance crap... and seriously, it doesn't take a genius to figure out that I'm actually stating the truth.
Please don't ever associate the above with Trance when it appeals to only shuffling primates with cerebral deficiencies.
To get a general idea what "Balearic Trance" is all about, download THE SUNDOWN MIXES from P@t at the PROGRESSIONS PODCAST. His latest mix is now online!
In view of the rising cost of living on SingaBore (a topic which the authorities have failed to address)... I'm not charging $20.00 (no GST) for every email enquiry. So before you ask me if the Pioneer CDJs are better than Technics 1210MK2, try googling it first. Otherwise, we're more than welcomed to treat me like an information counter (provided you pay).
In this day and date, one has to think like entrepreneur... yes? Stop complaining about paying for everything. Nothing is free.
Examples : ERP - Every Road Pay PUB - Pay Until Broke GST - Great Singapore Tax PAP - (everyone knows this one) LTA - Less Tax Already (dream on!) SBS - Si Beh Sian (hahaha!)
I hate to say this but stop wasting your resources and postage by sending me your really awfully-prepared DJ promo mix CDs. Unless it's something that really stands out creatively or it's something I've haven't already heard before. Otherwise, spare me because it'll just end up like the above picture and then straight into the rubbish chute. I don't mean to sound arrogant but seriously... BEEN THERE, DONE (HEARD) IT! I really don't have the patience (and time) for anything "noob-ish" or amateurish boring (like big trance tunes). I've got better things to do with my time like creating catchy thrash metal guitar licks; or catching up on some TV series box-sets; or trying to drown ants in my toilet bowl; or as of late... making money out of Baccarat.
Not that I'm not supportive of newbies but please go bug someone else. Thank you for your kind attention!

Paul van Dyk coming. Solarstone coming. Some trance consortium at Home Club (questionable). Not interested. I'm only waiting impatiently for...
... and getting some back catalogue albums from Opeth!
I've been working non-stop since Tuesday due to the ongoing warehouse sales that I'm helping to organize and co-ordinate. Two more days of work before I get a break. It's been extremely exhausting... I come home each day, head for the shower and then straight to bed... wake up in the morning, have my coffee and breakfast over the daily papers... and then I'm off. Thankfully, I don't do this on a weekly basis. It's just for this week... zzzzzzzz!
Undoubtedly, her best album ever, filled with all kinds of personal tales and emotions! And she doesn't even care if there isn't any commercial value in it. Fuck commercialism! Kudos! One of the very few albums that I can actually listen from start till end (and into Disc Two) without skipping a track. Utterly enjoyable when an artiste exhibits herself / himself in artistic lyrical form.
