No Resolutions!

What's mine for 2007? Too be completely honest, I can't be f**king arsed to make any. I've never been successful in keeping any single of my past ones, so why bother? C'est la vie. Come what may. Just hope that the new year brings forth much brighter tomorrows. What about you?

The End Of The Saddam Episode.

Saddam in happy times with Martin Lucifer.

The execution of Saddam Hussein is complete. He was hanged in Bagdhad until death ensued. It was between 5.30am and 6.30am.

No further commentary on this, in view of the sensitivity surrounding it. However, here's a picture of the creampuff infidel Bush (butt for brains) celebrating...

Progressions : NYE! It's gonna be mad!!!

I've been asked many times over how the vibe of Progressions is created. Well, you can have the world's "top notch" DJs at a party and yet it'll never re-create the vibe that most localized brand nights have. I've been to a few by Frontal Labs and etc, and found the warmth of a close-knit friendly atmosphere. What's more comforting then going to a club and seeing familiar faces all around? The DJs, the promoters, the punters and the club's staff say "hi" and actually spend time to chat with you... with SINCERITY! How often do you go clubbing, and you connect with the music and people within in? How often can you say this club / event is my second home?

This sort of vibe is not something anyone can take for granted either. Like magic, there is no explanation. It happens. More so in clubs / events that focus on personalized service. i.e. not the usual cold robotic approach of operations. And that's what we strive to maintain. That level of friendliness and comfortability. We see you as part of a great big ever-expanding family.

Like they say, if you're nice, it comes back to you ten-folds over. Tonight, I got a really nice belated X'mas gift and rode home in a funky yellow Hyundai with a really cute silky terrier resting his heavy backside on my tummy :)

More updates...

After the last signed Ichigo single ("Final Flash") to Real Music Recordings, we've finally completed work (for almost 3 weeks) on the next one called "Wanna Gonna" and will be pitching it to the appropriate digital labels (wish us luck!). It dives into a more tech funk-driven territory and completely avoids the usual tedious euphoric trance and melodious formula. We won't be circulating the full length tune as freely like previous times (long story regarding publishing rights), however it's included in the upcoming episode by Yukun on Stellar Music (see previous post) in a mixed format so look for it.

For licensing and publishing matters, please write to :

Earthquake and updates

TAIPEI, Taiwan - A strong earthquake off Taiwan's southern coast damaged undersea cables, disrupting phone and Internet service Wednesday in much of Taiwan, China and Japan. The quake was felt throughout Taiwan. The U.S. Geological Survey estimated its magnitude at 7.1, while Taiwan's Central Weather Bureau measured it at 6.7. It was followed eight minutes later by 7.0 magnitude aftershock, the USGS said. A 5.9-magnitude aftershock struck early Wednesday, the Central Weather Bureau said.

The quake damaged two of the seven undersea cables near Taiwan used by several countries to route calls and Internet traffic, Chunghwa said. Crews fixing the cables would have to pull them up and transfer them to a ship for repair, the company said. 98% of Taiwan's communications capacity with Malaysia, Singapore, Thailand and Hong Kong was disrupted. Many Internet users were unable to access Web sites. Internet access was cut or had become extremely slow.

I'm sure all of you, like me, have been trying to access the net the whole afternoon and etc with much problems. It took me almost two hours of staring into a blank screen just to manage this post. On a lighter note : Next gig before the NYE one...

Currently also busy editing and working on an episode for Stellar Music. Go subscribe for a whole bunch of exclusive aural goodies, if you know what I mean. It's helmed by an old mate (he's not that old anyway) from the Groove Genetics days. Anyway, the set will be moving slightly away from the usual signature sound and will instead be a reflection of what I really like in dance music... something that would sit comfortably in the comfort of your living room as well as in the clubs with nothing going too heavily over-the-top (i.e. banging and euphoric). And nothing too removed from what you would've already heard from me.

Another disappointment...

Against my better judgement, I went clubbing on Christmas Eve. In my humble opinion, I would politely described the entire affair to be a middle-sized bottle of bland-tasting WEAK SAUCE! Chalk one more on the wall... for yet another international that doesn't really deliver up to the "hype". No disrespect thus I won't go on about it either. Perhaps it's one of his off days. I should continue to stick to the "been there, done it" philosophy so that I don't get disappointed over and over again. Others will beg to defer of course... especially those that are overly eager and have a tendency to worship false icons blindly. Anyway, whatever. Thankfully, there were several other good moments for me during this Christmas Eve.

Notably, I still think Christmas here is nothing but stupid and over-rated. I walked down Orchard Road earlier and what do you have? People spreading the "good cheer" by spraying each other with party sprays. Sure, it's all in the spirit of good fun and I know we don't have the luxury of snowballs... but it just reinforces the fact that Christmas is totally redundant especially in a country like such. How inappropriate can you get when choirs along the street sing "chestnut roasting on the fireplace" and "dreaming of a white christmas"? Can someone go localized those non-applicable carols, please?

i.e. "Have yourself a 7% increase" to the tune of "Have Yourself A Merry Little X'mas"

Personally, I've always preferred New Year's Eve. It's much more meaningful and symbolic. Not that I'm anti-christ or anything. Just that with the coming of the New Year, it marks the end of past experiences (good or bad); and the arrival of new promises with the hope of a better tomorrow. With that I'd like to wish you all the very best for the New Year. And sadly and most untimingly...

Rest in peace, James Brown. You'll be remembered.
Time to go make God phunky!

Crazy night!

Firstly, Happy Birthday Fred-E! Your gift choice of either a brazilian wax or a can of whipped cream. Take your pick. If you can't decide, ask Fiona. :p

It was a crazy party. Nice one birthday boy, Jon Fong and Dan... although as usual, I missed 1/2 of it. Well, at least I got to meet Rob Zombie. OK, not the REAL one, but quite close nonetheless. No names mentioned but I think a bunch of us know who I'm referring to. This chap went to send a phone-text message "can you please stop singing" to his friend who happen to be just sitting right next to him. Best thing, the friend wasn't even singing! Talk about being zonked out. Mr Ian Ali, you rock! Thanks for the really damn hilarious incident and you really made my day! :)

That aside, it's always great to see the usual dedicated punters and friends. Sorry that I don't bitch as much now... I'm really mellowing out. Likewise, if you noticed, DJs that are in love tend to play a lot of really sweet girlie-vocal trance.
Daniel Storey will never be the same again. *grins*

So much for social grace!

The fat f**k neighbour (the one with the dead cock) decides to become a f**king twat by taking up D.I.Y. carpentry at 8.30am in the f**king morning, right outside the common corridor, right underneath my bedroom window.

Happily banging away, oblivious that he's making one hell of a racket. I don't blame him since he can't bang his equally ugly wife anyway. But still, must he do it this early in the bloody morning?

I approached him nicely, saying that I've got work tonight and that I'd like to get more sleep. Mother f**ker gives me the eye and say, "go ahead and complain to the police!"

Fine! F**k you, understand? You want to be nasty, you've just sealed your fate with a devious bastard (me) here! I wrote the book in "how to torment thy neighbours without getting caught". For starters, you can wave goodbye to your previous potted plants. The wonders of untraceable disinfectant!

Now you see why it doesn't pay to be gracious in this society anymore? Thanks to the existence of such f**king self-centered heartlanders like this stupid piece of lard-laden crap! By the way, your carpentry work is a good as your dick... it's completely hopeless!

Depeche Mode

Depeche Mode has always been an integral part of electronic music. Almost most of my peers were inducted into the world of synthesized music courtesy of this genre-defying and ever-evolving band. From their early days of synth-pop in the 80s to their dark-tinged ditties in the 90s, they continue to garnered more dedicated fans today. Very few bands have made a career through almost 3 decades, redefining their own sound as they went along... and becoming on of the biggest music exports from UK to the US (next to the Beatles).

Here I am, listening through 18 tracks from their recent "Best Of" CD... which comes with a bonus DVD of 23 videos and I've come to respect Depeche Mode even more for their non-mainstream sensibilities. They didn't make any of their songs with chart success in mind. They didn't really care if the public would understand what the songs were about. All they wanted to do were to put out really personal songs with really off-beat crafted lyrics. But as their destiny would have it, the mainstream audience lapped it all up.

I'm at track 13 now... "Precious". And this particular song just hits me as one of the most saddest song they've ever written. One point or the other, we all will face unhappiness and it's their uncanny ability to write lyrical content that makes you relate. This was written for Martin's three children when he was going through his divorce. Not that I'm in a melancholic mood now but this song just grow on you! As they would say, it's vintage Mode.

"Things get damaged
Things get broken
I thought we'd manage
But words left unspoken
Left us so brittle
There was so little left to give"

Today's a rainy, rainy day.

I've always preferred rain over any other weather. Then again what other weather here? There's only two. Today has been crazy! I don't know to laugh or cry. It's been raining for hours and I don't think it's going to stop anytime soon.

Personally, it's always nice to stay inside... make a hot pot of tea, put on a Tori Amos album, laze on the sofa and do some reading.

Letter to Santa

How the f**k are you doing? I hope all's well up North thus far. How are things with the missus? Reindeers still poo-ing all over the front lawn? The gay elves getting frisky? Not that I give a flying f**k, to be honest. Well, it's that time of year again. Busy, busy!

Anyway, before I forget, thanks for a really rotten Christmas last year. Worst ever in my entire life! I had half the mind to fly over to the Pole just to give you a long overdue shave with a rusty dull penknife. But it's ok, I forgive you. I really do. My dark yesterdays are fading away and all I look forward to are the nice rainy todays and sunny tomorrows. So no worries, right? No shaving this year... for now, that is. But just in case you think the coast's clear, I'll be keeping score! You're not really known to be one that keeps to his promises. Millions of heartbroken kids and testify to that.

But you do owe me. I've paid my dues. This year, my list is as usual... nothing overwhemingly demanding. But since you're so connected, I'm sure you can swing in a few favours... so here goes :

1. People to be less patronizing.
2. Idiots to stop asking me anymore stupid questions.
3. For the (business) seeds to bloom next year.
4. Less interference in my private life.
5. To have a happier life from now on. Period!
6. To go on a long extended holiday.
7. All the backstabbing assholes to die by June 2007.

I'm not asking too much am I? At least I did not ask for pointless material gifts like a f**king Ferrari or something. By the way, remember the other Santa that you replaced a few years ago? In case that slipped your mind... here's a reminder. It's not a threat. Just a gentle recap...

Godspeed, old man!

In the Xmas Mood?

When Band Aid's "Do They Know It's Christmas" charity single came out on 1984, it was a defining moment for the Brit Pop industry who came in aid of the Ethopian famine. Have fun watching this. Don't you just love the BIG HAIRS? Some of the performers are still around today... U2 Bono, George "Princess Diana" Michael, Duran Duran... that's about it. My fave, despite their crappy music, was Bananarama. They were HOT then. They should be grandmothers by now.

Still in the mood for really embarrassing 80s moments? Enjoy this one, which was so appropriate because I was back then in secondary school when some bitch dumped me. I'm kidding. Here's another wussy classic from Wham that led the world to think that they were 100% heterosexuals. Have yourself a Merry Xmas... not that it makes much sense in today's context but I've to admit that it certainly felt nice to have bought something sweet from Dorothy Perkins for someone today.

Are you ready for Moor?

ANDY MOOR
.: ASIA TOUR :.

24 Dec : Zouk, Singapore
28 Dec : Feelnet Club, Guangzhou, China
29 Dec : Woo Bar, Seoul, South Korea
31 Dec : Gayagum Hall, Seoul, South Korea

Currently sitting comfortably at No. 30 in the world DJ Polls, Andy is part of the forward-thinking force in Leama & Moor, Tilt, Odessi and Whiteroom. Since breaking out on the legendary Baroque Records and Bill Hamel's Sunkissed Records, he is one of the most definitive and influential artists in the dance music scene today - having remixed for the likes of Avril Lavigne, Paul Oakenfold, Brian Eno and more recently... Delerium's soon to be released "Angelicus". His newly established label AVA Recordings has also taken off nicely with copious worldwide support from Paul van Dyk and Armin van Buuren (to name but a few).

It’s not surprising that whilst fresh international demand surpasses the logistical ability of one man, it is the demand for ‘more Moor’ from the promoters and clubbers whose booths Andy has already graced that cause such a hectic DJ schedule. This is his 3rd visit to the Lion City and his first at Zouk. Whether you’ve bought the records or the albums, seen the live act or DJ performances or purely heard the name on the grapevine you can be sure that Christmas will never be the same after this one.

This one has quality written all over!
