His spirit lives on...

I personally feel that this speaks volume to say that music should not know any boundaries. Sven Vath is known for being a purveyor of quality Tekno and minimal... and yet, he goes beyond his stereotype to end his show with a fitting tribute and speech.

Many of us, veteran DJs, all started out playing what many of you would term as "mambo jambo". We are not afraid to admit and recognize our beginnings and roots. Back then, there wasn't any classification of genres. We played whatever that sounded good regardless if it was funk, disco, electronic or rock. Parties in those days were geared towards letting your hair down and having a good time. It wasn't about being purists. It was about embracing music for what it was... an outlet of expression.

Today, things are different. Just because you don't understand on particular genre, doesn't mean that genre sucks. It simply means you have the inability to be open-minded. Sure we all go through our different phases of tastes and etc, but keep your opinions to yourself unless you really know what you're talking about.

Sure I don't like R&B but I recognize the fact that it's technically not that easy to be a R&B deejay. Each different aspect of DJing applies to each different genre. Likewise many have slammed what I play to be "crap". Well, I've got testimonials and countless cheques to argue otherwise.

And to the idiot that gave me the middle finger for playing Linkin Park and The Killers at the last Dazed Out... go fuck yourself. I'm not a trance purist. So there!
