Winds Of Change

Firstly, I'm glad that the club I work at is a no-monkey-zone. Meaning, no more displeasure of having to listen to "self-proclaimed DJs" trying to string a decent mix together while riding a pony backwards. No more name-droppings. No more monkey antics. No more bullcrap. Leave the real deal to real "men". Fly-by-night boys need not apply. Period.

"No more ANYHOW!"

We'll be roping in some established local DJs to cover some new brand nights.

Secondly, I'm jubilant that soon, I'll no longer need to endure the torture of playing to a room full of redundant "so-called imported models". The pointless charitable drive will be phased out gradually. As it is, I'm already on the verge of flicking my middle finger at every cheap fuck that walks in the door.

"Excuse, you got Umbrella?"

"No. It's not raining, you stupid bitch!"

Musically, the club's going to be more focused. Thursdays will soon be catered towards adult-contemporary R&B / funk / grooves with a few good DJ mates coming over to slice things up. No monkeys.

Fridays will be dedicated to the friendly side of House music. That's in the good hands of my partner-in-crime Razaq as well as the DJs that we'll be calling on for guest slots. No monkeys.

Saturdays will dived into a progression of electro to a tinged of progressive house and heading towards the tougher territories as well as a bagful of quality trance towards the end of the night. No monkeys.

Last Saturday was downright fun because the transient "models in poverty" did not get it but the bunch of loyal locals did. It's always great to end the night with people still on the floor. Fuck... it's a pleasure to play for people who are not coming to the club for FREE DRINKS. The group of musically-inclined locals are heading back this Saturday again... brilliant!!!

Dazed Out, the club's monthly Trance shindig which I've helped to established, is moving on to a Saturday in November so as to piss off the "penny-less models" as well as to give others a better reason to attend... considering Sunday as a day of recovery.

We've got a very experienced / connected guy in. We've got an ex-Centro PR executive coming on board. We've got a smoke machine... we've got drinks by the jugs... more changes to come! Things are finally looking up after months of stagnancy. Now all we need is to eradicate the stupid upper level politics.

But the greatest joy has still got to be the monkey bit.

DISCLAIMER : This entry has nothing to do with prejudice, racial slurs or personal grievances. But it has everything to do with keeping monkeys in check and where they should really belong... either in the wild or in cages, or in an exotic food restaurant in China. Definitely not behind a DJ booth. We need to maintain the integrity of the artform!
