Patriotism? Oh please... got tax rebate instead?

In a few day's time, we approach yet another National Day. Many years back, usually around this time, you'll see the national flag hung by the citizens at MOST housing flats to mark the occassion. As years go by, there are either few or no flags at all. Not only have we all gotten bored of the same uncreative National Day Parade, many of us have realise that we're becoming more and more detached with the country. There's no sense of belonging, the influx of foreign workers taking away our jobs, the ridiculous ERPs, the high cost of living... everything adds up to the current sentiment of pseudo-patriotism.  This country is no longer one we can call OUR HOME.  It's just a superbly expensive business hub which still expects it's MALE citizens to pay their dues through National Service and yet offer very little perks after the terms have been met.  Lets not ignore that the expats here get better incentives!

What?  Am I wrong to say that?  What kind of country offers foreign reject sportsmen citizen just to represent us?  So what if we win a freaking Olympic medal?  It's not going to make life any easier for the rest of us, is it?  So what the F1 is coming?  Is EVERYBODY going to benefit financially from it?  Seriously, so fucking what?

So don't be a stupid arse by saying "YOU ARE A PROUD SINGAPOREAN!".  There's no such thing as a SINGAPOREAN.  We're all technically... natural TAX resources.

p/s just to explain my OWN unhappiness with this country.  I called a LOCAL restaurant to book a table for dinner.  A foreign worker answered with very poor English and he could hardly understand me.  If he spoke Mandarin, that would've solved the frustration of repeating myself 5 million times in SLOW and PRECISE ENGLISH just to book a table!   It's just fucking pointless, isn't it?  Hiring some cannot-make-it foreign labour just because he's CHEAP.  Defeats the entire purpose.  You're better off employing a retarded parrot.

If you are, Ang Mo lang,
Job benefit, better wan!

Blah blah blah cynicism aside I'm glad to be a Singaporean (and YES! we are STILL not part of China! Dumbfart Ang Mo!)

I enjoy every National Day, always got new shows premiering immediately after. This year got "First Class" Yet another attempt at SitCom humour. I give them props for the attempt. I'm surprised they have not ripped off "The Office" which the USA copied from the British. And we ALL know how original certain local production houses are.

As to hiring cheap labour who cannot understand our powderful england what can I say, they MUST be making millions......in losses from all the customers who give up and go away. Long live these genius bosses! Actually can I get a job there? I mean how badly I cockup it will still be better than those fresh off the boat people. ;p
