Interview I did for a MySpace community...

Musical style...
Currently, I hate being placed in a stereo-type of a certain style. I'm discovering the joy of going back to the roots of House Music as well as getting my feet wet with other genres like electro, tribal and inbetweens. So musically, at the moment, I'd very much like to play across the board. Playing just one style really bores the fuck out of me! It's like having the same dish for the entire month. Bland with no variety.
Musically inspired by...
Kraftwerk and early Depeche Mode.
The name "Yukun"...
It's my romanized chinese name.
Being a Singapore DJ...
Sucks because the majority of the punters are musically retarded and have the inability to move on and mature in terms of personal music preferences... and they've the rude habit of "cellphone requests".
ZoukOut...
An annual pilgrimage for many. Kudos to them, being a local brand, and for putting this grotty island on the worldwide map.
A DJ's work...
Is frustrating when you get a room full of people that wants to listen to the same 5 fucking tunes week in and week out. Get a fucking iPod and stop presuming that all DJs are emotionless jukeboxes!
Radio show...
I've been doing a weekly pre-clubbing show for over a year now and it's a lot less frustrating because I don't get idiots coming up to ask me to play this and that. I feature whatever I fancy and the reactions from the niche listeners have been very encouraging. It's one of the few places that the typical "tunnel-vision-syndrome" is non-existent.
Crap music...
Anything that's overplayed is crap. Anything that's overhyped is crap. Anything that's too commercialized. Period.
Awesome fans...
Anyway but here. Sadly but it's been a fact since day one I started in this industry. Best reaction I got thus far is Bali.
